About Us

NAMI Huntington is one of more than 50 affiliates of NAMI New York State which in turn is a component of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.  The membership of NAMI exceeds 200,000.  NAMI and NAMI Huntington have four main purposes:

• Support friends and family members of persons with mental illness

• Educate ourselves, the public, and mental health professionals on the nature and treatment of mental illnesses and the special resources needed by people with mental illness.

• Advocate for resources (medicines, housing, treatment, employment, etc.) needed by persons with mental illness.

• Promote research into the origins, progression, and treatment of mental illnesses
